At the Bavarian Blacksmith Experience our Blacksmiths are part smith, part guide. As a smith, your role will be to manage the forge, work the tongs while guiding the patron through the forging process, and to provide an entertaining experience for the patrons and the gathering audience.
If you have an outgoing personality and love to forge this is the perfect job for you!
When & Where?
We are open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30am - 6:30pm.
We are located at the River Place Shops in Frankenmuth, MI just outside the Old Time Photo in a green shed.
Blacksmiths will make competitive hourly pay plus any tips you earn.
We find that smiths with an outgoing personality tend to make more tips than those are not as engaging with customers, so a friendly disposition is very important!
This is a not a salary position, so smiths must show up to be paid. It is expected that smiths will be able to handle leading up to 4 patrons through an experience at a time, at a pace of at least one experience per hour.
Expectations & Information
Training: Training can happen as early as the day we interview you. We like to do a working interview to see how quickly you can learn and handle customers. This will give us an opportunity to set our expectations, practice together, help you understand our forging processes and flow, and let us see your personality.
Breaks: Smiths will be given a 30 mins lunch break and two 15 minute breaks per day. Lunch is not provided, so pack a lunch or be prepared to purchase food from the food courts
Uniform: Staff will be provided with a work t-shirt once they are hired in; bottoms should be a neutral color.
Sobriety: All staff must show up sober and remain sober throughout the work day. We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and drug usage during work hours due to the nature of our work and insurance policy.
Tax Form: All Staff will be considered contractors and will fill out a 1099 form.
